Varna and the Gulf of Varna
The city of Varna, with a population of 325,137 people, is located on the coast of the Varna Bay, 470 kilometers from Sofia. Varna is the largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The city is more than 11 km long and about 9 km wide, including the new districts. The town follows the curve of the bay and is surrounded by gardens, vineyards and woodlands.
